This Privacy Policy explains how HOP LIMO ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the HOP TAXI Driver mobile application (the "App"). The data controller is HOP LIMO, Friedenstrasse 8, 6004 Luzern, Switzerland.

The App is provided to taxi drivers who work with HOP TAXI to receive and fulfil ride orders. By using the App you agree to the practices described here.

Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of data:

  • Account and profile data — your name, username, phone number, login credentials, and driver details.
  • Location data — your precise GPS location. While you are online or on a trip, the App collects your location continuously, including in the background, so that dispatchers and passengers can see your position and assign nearby rides. Location collection stops when you go offline.
  • Ride and work data — ride orders assigned to you, off-record rides you add, punch cards, trip history, and billing/earnings information.
  • Device and notification data — a Firebase push token, device model and operating-system version, and app diagnostics used to deliver ride alerts and keep the service reliable.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • operate the dispatch service and match you with ride orders;
  • share your live location with dispatchers and the assigned passenger during a trip;
  • send ride offers, assignments, and other operational notifications;
  • calculate earnings and produce billing records;
  • provide support and keep the App secure and reliable; and
  • comply with our legal obligations.

Legal Bases for Processing

We process your data to perform our contract with you, on the basis of your consent (for example for location access, which you can control through your device settings), for our legitimate interest in operating a reliable dispatch service, and to comply with our legal obligations. This is in line with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Sharing and Third Parties

We share data only as needed to run the service:

  • Google — the App uses Google Maps to display maps and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications. Your location and device token are processed by Google as part of these services.
  • Dispatchers and passengers — during an active trip, your live location and relevant ride details are shared with the HOP TAXI dispatch team and the passenger you are serving.
  • Our backend — data is transmitted to and stored on servers operated for HOP TAXI.

We do not sell your personal data.

International Transfers

Some of our service providers (such as Google) may process data on servers outside Switzerland or the EU/EEA. Where this happens, appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses are applied.

Data Retention

We keep your account and ride data for as long as you have an active account and as required to meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations. Location data associated with completed trips is retained only as long as needed for operational and billing purposes.

Security

All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/WSS). We apply technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.

Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or your local supervisory authority.

Device Permissions

The App requests the following device permissions:

  • Location (including background / "all the time") — to stream your position for dispatch and live trip tracking while you are online. This is essential to the driver service.
  • Notifications — to alert you to ride offers and assignments.
  • Ignore battery optimisations — so time-critical ride alerts are delivered reliably even when the device tries to sleep the App.
  • Display over the lock screen (full-screen notifications) — so an incoming ride alert can appear on a locked phone.

Children

The App is intended for professional drivers and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice.
